Finance Division

With the beginning of the New Year, the team behind the Finance Business Transformation Programme has simplified its name slightly to the Finance Transformation Programme (FTP).

The FTP in an ambitious large-scale initiative which aims to shape and enhance Finance's processes and tools of the future. The programme is a coordinated initiative which will run over the next three years and includes several key projects concerning Procurement, Group Consolidation, Expense Management and the CUFS (Central University Finance System) upgrade.

Overall the FTP aims to:

  1. Identify and address gaps in Finance information or insight

  1. Introduce improved, harmonised and flexible end-to-end Finance workflows and systems across schools, faculties, departments and central offices; and

  1. Ensure the University gets maximum value for money when investing in Finance

As part of this work, the University has been working with Higher Education and finance transformation experts PA Consulting, and the end of last year saw the FTP finish its crucial Discovery Phase. This exploratory work has helped us to understand Finance issues experienced by academic and professional services staff across the University, and to identify opportunities to improve through process efficiency.

Now that this phase is completed, the findings are being analysed and it is expected that a full business case will follow during the course of this year

Further information about the results of the programme’s University-wide engagement and a comprehensive update on the findings from the Discovery Phase will follow shortly.  Further information about the programme as a whole can be found on the FTP web pages Key programme documents are also soon to be accessible on the site.
