Finance Division

Since the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, the University has found itself operating in unprecedented times in which students have been sent home and examinations cancelled, leaving all staff focused on business-critical processes or supporting those who are.

Whilst staff in the Finance Division are working on key critical areas, where there is availability and if appropriate, some projects are being continued which help to compliment this critical work. An example of this is the Expense Management System project as it spearheads a path to working in a digital environment.

Michelle Bond, Interim Head of Financial Systems said: “Due to other operational commitments during these exceptional circumstances, progress is expected to be slower than usual as we are sensitive to the needs of everyone in the University having to focus their time on business critical activity. I’d like to stress that each step is being sensitively planned and fully agreed with all key stakeholders involved.”

Where possible, the next steps for the Expense Management System project will be:

  1. Working with system providers SAP Concur, pilot departments and the user group to continue to agree and design the new system
  2. Plan the detail and the timing of roll-out of the agreed system to pilot areas
  3. Test the system internally within the project team, pilot departments and user group

The project team will keep the University updated with significant developments as they happen. More detailed information about the Expense Management System project can be found on the FTP web pages.
