Under this scheme, an employee of the University of Cambridge elects (by signing a contract) to receive a lower salary in return for childcare provided by the University Nurseries at Edwinstowe Close or at West Cambridge. The pre-tax salary deduction is equal to the post tax nursery payment made by those not taking a salary sacrifice. For employees with children in other nurseries etc. salary may be sacrificed in return for childcare vouchers which are provided free of tax and national insurance.
