Policy
Public transport is often the most cost-effective means of travel within urban areas and to/from airports and should be used wherever this is the case. Consideration should be given to its cost, frequency, speed and convenience of stops.
Within Cambridge departmental staff are encouraged to use wherever possible the Universal bus service that is subsidised by the University. This offers all holders of a University card reduced rate travel on a route between Madingley Park and Ride, Cambridge train station and Addenbrookes hospital.
For more details about the Universal service see the EM website.
Procedure
Fares for business journeys using forms of public transport e.g. local bus, tram and underground trains may be claimed via the Expense form, if supported by receipts.
Tax Implications
Included in the University dispensation and does not need to be recorded on the P11D form.
