Finance Division

Karen Sheldon, Finance Training Manager

As the manager of the team I am responsible for ensuring that the training we provide equips staff with the knowledge and skills to administer the University's finances appropriately. I also edit and co-ordinate the publication of the Financial Procedures Manual.

I have been with the University since UFS was introduced (yes I remember CAPSA). During this time I have seen many developments in the Finance Division as well as helping to implement the HR's CHRIS system. I have a strong interest in staff development in general and I co-ordinate those studying at a higher level qualifications within the Finance Division in accountancy, tax and procurement in both the Finance Division and across departments and insurance. In addition I also co-ordinate and support those across departments that are studying for ACCA or CIMA.

In my previous life I spent nine years with Customs & Excise where I was one of their internal Technical trainers, and dealt with fraud cases as well as auditing both small and large businesses.

Helen Bailey, E-Learning Developer
