A Starter Checklist must be completed by staff commencing employment who have either no previous employment, no P45 from a previous employment or who have not completed a CHRIS/22 form. Once received by Payroll it is processed and sent off to HMRC who then return a tax code based on the statement and personal circumstances of the individual.
Download the Starter Checklist here. This form is designed to be completed online. Please ensure you complete both the employee personal details and the employee statement. The employee statement should be signed by hand, not with a printed signature.
A P45 is provided when an employee leaves employment and is a record of taxable earnings and tax paid to date in a current year. Please retain part 1A for your records and send all other parts to Payroll as soon as possible, even if the P45 is out of date.
