Travelling to Greenwich House

Please use the bus, Universal Bus or bicycle/scooter to get to Greenwich House as car parking is not available for visitors.

If you have no option but to come by car you can use the Madingley Road Park and Ride which is free, and roughly 20 minutes walk away.

Arriving by Train

There are fast trains from London King's Cross Station to Cambridge every half hour, taking about 50 minutes. Direct trains are available to Cambridge from Norwich, Ipswich, Birmingham and also from Stansted airport. Full timetable details are available from Network Rail.

Taxis to Greenwich House are available from the station.

Arriving by Bus

The Universal bus by Whippet by Whippet runs from Addenbrooke's, the train station and Trumpington Street every 15 minutes. Get off the bus as it turns onto J.J. Thomson Avenue, walk back towards Madingley Road, cross over the pedestrian crossing and up Madingley Rise to the top where you will find Greenwich House signposted.

The Stagecoach 4 bus route runs 3 to 4 times an hour from Addenbrooke's hospital, Cambridge train station and Trumpington Street. Get off the bus as it turns onto J.J. Thomson Avenue, walk back towards Madingley Road, cross over the pedestrian crossing and up Madingley Rise to the top where you will find Greenwich House signposted.

A Park & Ride bus route departs from the city centre (St. Andrew's Street) every 10 minutes and takes approximately 15 minutes to get close to Greenwich House. If travelling from the centre, ensure you catch the bus to Madingley Road Park & Ride.

Arriving by Bicycle/Scooter

  • Turn into Madingley Rise from Madingley Road
  • Go up to the top of Madingley Rise, following the signs for Greenwich House.
  • On your right there is the large Astronomy parking area. Take the footpath on its left-hand side then through the barriers on your left for bike sheds.
  • There are also yellow posts to secure your bicycle directly in front of Greenwich House and a large bike shelter on the north side of the building.
  • Voi e-scooters have been available in Cambridge since 2020. There are designated parking spots throughout the University.
